P6/7 ‘Sentinus’ STEM Project

The P6/7 class have been very busy working with ‘Sentinus’ on their STEM project. Gerard, from ‘Sentinus’, facilitated a workshop which taught the P6/7 class about renewable energy and how we can create a more sustainable future. He then set the children a task of creating a Moneymore of the future, one that that only uses renewable energy.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and came up with lots of brilliant ideas for their ‘Muine Mór Nua’. Their ideas included, Springhill Wind farm, Kelly’s Electric Car Charging Station, high rise housing with solar panels, an electric tram, cycle lanes, a geothermal heated swimming pool, a green house, solar powered street lighting, drone deliveries,  vegetable patches, a park and lots of flowerbeds.

Their project was then displayed in Holy Trinity College as part of the Holy Trinity Taster Day. The P6/7 class were commended for the effort they put into their project. Well done everyone!
